Seeing Elevens?

For quite some time, it seemed as though 11, 111, and 1111 were showing up everywhere. I would wake up at night, glance at the clock and it was 1:11. I would drive down the highway, glance over at the mile marker and it was 111. I would look at the top of the book I was reading and it was page 111. It got to where almost every time I looked at the clock there was 11, either 11:00 or 11:11 or 2:11 or 9:11, et cetera. I also saw elevens on building and license plates and cash register receipts. I recently received a prophetic word by email sent at 1:11 and another strategic one yesterday at 1:11.

I haven’t been looking for elevens. This is just a phenomenon I have noticed with seasons of increasingly regularity for a few years.

Maybe you have noticing how frequently you see elevens and have been curious too. I knew that in Biblical symbolism, that 11 is a number of transition, change, and the prophetic. And certainly, I’ve experienced a great deal of change the past few years. As I thought about it all, I searched online, but could not find much from the Christian community. Indeed more and more, what I found was that many people have been experiencing the same phenomenon without understanding why.

I came across a couple of ministers who taught that it referred to a prophetic promise, such as:

Deut. 1:11  “May the Lord, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand-fold more than you are and bless you, just as He has promised you!”

Deut 11:11 “But the land into which you are about to cross to possess it, a land of hills and valleys, drinks water from the rain of heaven”.

Indeed, both these verses speak of positive change from one place or condition to another.

Another minister, Doug Addison, wrote, “Eleven is also associated with revelation that will help transition us into something new and overdue”. That certainly resonates with me! That says to me that God is getting our attention and bringing insight that is changing personal elements about who we are (or perceive that we are) and the circumstances or direction of our lives.
I recently asked a long-time prophetic friend, Sylvia Sizemore, about her insights on seeing elevens. She wrote:

God is trying to get your attention that things are changing in this season. You have moved from the place you were but not into the new season of your life or the new identity He has for you. Your call doesn’t change, but your methods must change in a new season. As they say, it’s hell in the hallway.

“Eleven is made up of two ones. One represents God. It is first used in Gen. 1:1. It signifies the oneness of heaven and earth. So I would say there is a deeper place of oneness God wants. The more you worship and obey, the more you come into a place of oneness with him.

“In the Hebrew language, numbers are words as well as numbers and their symbols are pictures. One is the word Aleph. It is made up of two symbols. One of the symbols is the Vav, which is the symbol for 6. Since we are heading into 2016, which in Hebrew is 5776, this is a time of connecting heaven and earth. It too was first used in Gen 1:1. Heaven vav (and) earth. It is used to connect things together. Remember the law of first mention in the Bible.

“You need to begin to look at what you’re doing and see what needs to be let go and what needs to mature into something else.

My Conclusion
Seeing elevens is a sign and a reminder that positive change is happening and on the horizon, and that the appropriate response is to be willing to adjust to it, agree with it, and even initiate it where we can. When I see elevens, I am reminded and often say, “Thank God things are changing.” And depending on what is happening at the time or what is on my mind or heart, I also use such moments to make a prophetic declaration with Scripture, that is a greater expression of heaven on earth in whatever area of life that means. The goal is a greater unity of our own selves and the earth with heaven. Amen.

“Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
